What is a Competitor Analysis?

A UX competitive analysis is a part of the research process when you investigate all relevant design solutions in your domain performed by direct and indirect competitors. - https://www.eleken.co/blog-posts/competitive-analysis-in-ux-design-process-methods-and-concerns

I think carrying out a competitor analysis is extremely important as it allows you to see what others have done in the market and how you can improve upon what's already out there. I am going to be continually adding competitors to this page as I carry out my research.

Freestyle Libre

This is an app that I use and it has massively changed my life. Although the app is different and has separate functions from what I want my app to do, there are some aspects of this app I would like to consider. The Freestyle Libre app links up with your Freestyle Libre sensor which is available on the NHS and constantly monitors your glucose levels. You can use your smartphone to scan your sensor and see glucose readings, meaning you no longer have to carry around a monitor but your phone which is more subtle and something you always have with you. When your blood sugar levels go outside the parameters you have set then an alarm will go off and your phone will notify you and your loved ones that your glucose levels are low or high. Your loved ones will need to have the libre link up app to receive these notifications.

I think the fact that you get a notification when your blood sugar levels go low is brilliant because without this notification you could hit rock bottom, be confused and unresponsive but still be in denial that this anything to do with your blood sugars. However, with the notification you can't be in denial because the proof is right in front of you.

I would love for my app to link up and work hand in hand with the freestyle libre. I think they would be the perfect combination for overall great blood glucose control.
