My Final Idea

After telling my classmates about my 3 major project ideas, they all agreed that the diabetic management app was the best option.

The number of type 1 diabetics being diagnosed is continually increasing. Type 1 diabetes is a self management condition, therefore it's important that diabetics have technology and methods to understand patterns in their blood sugar and keep it under control. From using this smartphone app users will have better blood sugar levels, understand their insulin ratios better and be more aware of what their body is telling them. There are many diabetes management apps that track blood sugar levels and allows you to log the food you eat. However, what makes this app unique is that you can use AR on your phone camera to scan foods and barcodes to get bolus information, it remembers behaviour patterns and can suggest a different bolus for you if your previous amount caused hypo or hyperglycemia, and it also has a random daily check in which will help you stop and think about how you are feeling and guess what your blood sugars are.

I found this advert from diabetes UK and the struggles talked about in it are the main motivations behind me creating this app. Give it a watch to understand how millions of people feel on the daily. There is not one diabetic who has there blood sugars under control all of the time, technology is so important in managing diabetes as it helps reduce stress, fear, complications and increases confidence so more diabetics can live a normal life.
