Semester 2 has begun and over the past couple of weeks I have been thinking about ways in which Insurin could be improved. In particular the ‘My Glucose’ screen was something I wasn’t happy with and a goal for starting back to university this week was to improve how this screen functioned.

What’s here?

My Glucose Screen

Below is my current main screen for users checking their blood glucose levels. However, I wanted to provide more insight by including activities taken place throughout the day. Even though this will all be included in my logbook I wanted to display it more upfront which is why I included a code on the screen showing what each different coloured circle means. However, I don’t think this was the best solution for the problem I was trying to solve so I decided to trial and error different solutions. I wanted to display the amount of insulin in my users system beneath the graph, my inspiration for this was the Quin: Diabetes management app.

Inspiration

Below is the Quin: Diabetes Management App. I like how it shows how much insulin is left in the users system as well as what food they ate with that dosage. With the image on the left it is confusing as to whether blood glucose levels are going up or down with different types of insulin representing different predictions. The app also says when ‘Flasp’ insulin will be hitting its peak effect on the image on the right.

All of these features are similar to my app however what makes my app stand out is that it tells the users what they need to do next. Although these screens tell the user what’s going on, it doesn’t tell them what they need to do and provide no guidance for someone newly diagnosed.
